Chivas got its name from a nickname given by rival fans. In the 1940s, opponents mockingly called them “Chivas” (Spanish for "goats") due to their aggressive playing style. Instead of rejecting it, the club embraced the name, and it became their official identity as Club Deportivo Guadalajara, commonly known as Chivas.
