The club was created on August 12, 1970, and one of France's most successful clubs, having won 39 recognized titles in total, including nine league crowns, a record twelve Coupe de France, a record eight Coupe de la Ligue, and a record six Trophée des Champions. PSG is also the only French club to have won a major European prize, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1996.
